We’ve been in this business long enough now to know that creativity thrives in places that make you feel a certain vibe and that help you relax and concentrate on making great music and visual art. Stress and anxiety are the greatest killers of that creative vibe and so we work hard with our clients to learn to relax and enjoy the whole process. You’re never going to achieve complete perfection in the recording of your music or in your videos, and you shouldn’t feel like you’re required to. You can get as close to perfection as you feel necessary, if that’s what you really want, or you can just go with the unforeseen moments and all the happy accidents that go into great recording sessions. Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and even Ian Curtis of Joy Division were notorious for often refusing to do more than a single vocal take on some of the best-known songs of their entire careers. And in the end it doesn’t seem like it really did their music any harm, now does it? During the recording session for the song “Roxanne” by the Police, Sting accidentally backed up and sat on the piano keys while the vocal mic was rolling. He laughed about it and then they decided to leave the whole thing in there. Don’t believe us? Listen to the first 15 seconds of the song and see if you hear it. In 1972, while recording a guitar part outside, Led Zeppelin ended up with the sound of a 747 jet airliner coming in to land at Heathrow Airport in London. They also left it on the album Physical Graffiti.

Mastering

Will my track be ready for radio and will it sound modern and professional by today’s standards?

Yes, it will. Mastering at Wolf River Music means giving your track the final polish it needs to compete in the global market. Our mastering process enhances clarity, ensures balance, and prepares your music for any listening platform. We partner with Pale Horse Sound, also here in Utah, to make sure that the digital mastering of your musical project is as good as it possibly can be. And if you’re planning to go even one huge step further and get your music onto a vinyl record, we work with one of the best in the business for that. Dave Cooley at Elysian Masters in Pasadena, California, is a grammy-winning mastering engineer and is a true professional in every sense of the word. We can even continue to consult with you about how to navigate thru the difficult process of vinyl record production by getting you set up with Furnace Records in Alexandria, Virginia. Vinyl records are expensive to make and take much longer to complete than just a standard digital CD. You want someone who has been thru all of this before and can help you get this done right, avoiding costly mistakes and missteps.

Music Production

Can you help turn my ideas into a finished product?

Indeed, we can. From arranging to final production, our team works with you to bring your musical vision to life. We're here to guide, enhance, and perfect your sound throughout the production process. If you need a professional bassist, guitarist, background vocalist, or even a pretty good drummer, then Billy (Studio Owner/Chief Engineer) is your man. Forty-plus years on the guitar and the bass and lead singer for memoryfield. No extra charge for those services if Billy is also recording, engineering and/or mixing your project. If you need a world-class pianist and/or a female background singer, then Juliet Gamero can be hired as well at her professional rate. She’s on the Music Dept. faculty at Utah Valley University in Orem and holds a master’s degree in music performance from the University of Texas at Austin. She can also help out with vocal, brass or string arrangements and can even assist you with your overall production and songwriting. Her musical skills are something to behold and she’s probably the most affordable and best-kept musical secret in the state of Utah. We have dozens of local connections with other vocalists, drummers, horn players, etc. and we can hook you up with just about anybody you need to get a quality musical part played, written and/or recorded.

Yes. Our voiceover and ADR services are perfect for film, TV, commercials, and online content. With a wide range of voices and the latest in sound recording technology, we ensure your message is heard loud and clear.

Video Production & Post-Production

Can you handle my project's visual elements too?

Certainly! Our video production team specializes in creating stunning music videos, promotional content, and live performance captures that will resonate with your audience. We have two commercial drone operators on-hand who can and will travel to whatever local or exotic locale you can possibly dream of. We know the places that others don’t, and we’ve been able to come away with some of the most breathtaking and visually stunning landscape shots for music videos that you will ever see. We specialize in the desert southwest from northern Utah to Nevada, Arizona, and all the way to the west coast of southern California. The Wasatch Front, Moab, Joshua Tree, the Mojave, the Salton Sea, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hollywood and everything in between. Editing? We got it. Green screen work? No problem. We’re close working partners with Bryce Johnson and GoBig Creative, based in Park City, Utah, and you can see so much of his most recent work right here on this website in videos and photographs.
